Our Story

In the early 1950’s the late Mr. H. Maierovits opened Toronto’s first Kosher Bakery together with a partner. After two years, the partnership dissolved and Mr. Maierovits opened Hermes Bakery on St. Clair Avenue West. That first store was a huge success and in the next six to seven years was followed by two more locations.The present location was opened in 1959. This became the production centre and from here was supplied all of the stores and wholesale customers.

Hermes Bakery’s success lies in the high quality of our products, based on old, authentic European, mouth watering recipes. These recipes have been handed down to the third generation now operating Hermes Bakery.

The diversity of products produced by Hermes is unbeatable. Quality is something that we never compromise on. We go to great lengths to obtain the finest and freshest ingredients only. We never use any premixes to cheapen our costs. All of our products are made totally in house from beginning to end; even our fillings and creams are produced in house! Hermes Bakery has always maintained and will continue to maintain a very high standard of quality.
